Computing

Through our curriculum we wish to provide the children with an education that equips them to be able to think computationally. Through their time at St. Francis they should consistently add to their knowledge-base which will be rooted in computer science. Underpinning all the computing work we do will be the message of how we stay safe in the ever-changing digital world. Through this combination of skills we hope for the children to leave digitally literate - ready and able to make their mark in their future workplace.

In EYFS, Barefoot Computing resources are used to embed an early understanding of Computational Thinking. From KS1 onwards, teachers use Purple Mash resources to teach Computing in discrete sessions. At the beginning of each school year, Online Safety is the focus of Computing lessons. However, teachers use the Educated for a Connected World programme to ensure that we weave online safety learning throughout both the Computing and wider curriculums.
