Painting Strand
Through their Art journey, our children learn about colour. They learn about primary, secondary and tertiary colours and they investigate tones, hues, tints and shades. They investigate the use of texture in paint, such as sand and sugar and they find out how different brushstrokes can make different styles of art work.
They explore famous painters and less-famous painters, to discover how they used colour in their pieces, to convey emotion or to impart messages.
Children learn about painters such as Mark Rothko, Picasso, Van Gogh and Yayoi Kasama. They learn about different art movements such as impressionism, dadaism and cubism and how these styles have reflected society and culture or been created as a reaction against societal norms.
